Message from the Managing Director
In 1758, Okadaya the original AEON store was founded. Guided by our basic principle “pursuing peace and respect while contributing to local communities in the best interest of customers”, we have been striving to grow and evolve for 259 years.
In 1985, we launched our business in Malaysia to realize our mantra of bringing prosperity to customers.
Now, with the shift to Asian markets, it is our mid-term management plan to achieve further growth as a group in the retail business with roots in Asia. Following the opening of maiden stores in Vietnam and Cambodia, we opened our first Indonesian store in a shopping mall in 2015. Then in 2016, we established a joint venture with a prominent local retailer in Myanmar.
In order to respond to the needs of local customers, we’ve developed our business in multi format that uses group comprehensive power. We developed our own house brand "TOPVALU” for the China and ASEAN markets. In Japan we’ve also developed "safe and secure" products based on customer feedback.
It is our aim at AEON to provide shoppers with a wide selection of quality products and an enticing ambiance. Our goal is to be a one-stop retail destination and provide customers with a unique shopping experience.
With your support, AEON has grown to encompass more than 300 companies in 13 countries with a consolidated operating revenue of ¥8 trillion this year. In order to become Asia’s number one regional retailer, we will uphold our principles and advocate for peace, respect with the contribution to the local community in the forefront and to be relentless in our pursuit for innovation.
