Message from the Managing Director
In 1758, Okadaya store, one of the origin of AEON, was founded. Ever since, under our basic principle, “pursuing peace, respecting humanity, contributing local communities, always with the customer’s point of view as its core”, we have been challenging to change and reform our business for 259 years.
In 1985, AEON launched its business in Malaysia by carrying out its abiding belief “to contribute to realize a prosperous life for customers.”
Now, AEON is promoting the shift to Asian markets in AEON’s mid-term management plan to achieve further growth as a group in the retail business rooted in Asia. Following the opening of first store in Vietnam and Cambodia, we opened a shopping mall which is the first Indonesian store in 2015. In 2016, we have established a joint venture with a prominent local retailer in Myanmar.
In order to respond to the needs of local customers, AEON companies collaborate to develop business in multi format that uses group comprehensive power. For products, we also developed regional proprietary products of Aeon's brand "TOPVALU" for people in China and ASEAN countries. Like Japan, we offer "safe and secure" products incorporating the opinions of customers.
At AEON, we always aim to provide shoppers with a wide selection of great choices, quality products and an enjoyable atmosphere. We aim to make AEON as a one-stop destination that provides unique shopping experience to our customers.
Under the auspices of all of you, AEON has grown to include a group of more than 300 companies, developing countries to 13 countries, and consolidated operating revenues to 8 trillion yen this year. In order to become a truly Asia No. 1 super regional retailer, Aeon will continue to pursue peace at the customer's point of origin, respect the human beings, contribute to the local community, based on an unchanging basic philosophy, We will continue to challenge innovation.
