Tree-planting Activity under the “AEON Hometown Forests Program” held at AEON MALL’s No. 2 Mall in Cambodia “AEON MALL Sen Sok City”
(7th April 2018 )
Before the opening of the company's 2nd mall in Sen Sok City of Cambodia, AEON Co., Ltd. and AEON MALL Co., Ltd. held a Tree-planting Activity on 7th April 2018, which was attended by guests such as the Governor of Phnom Penh and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Cambodia and where local residents were invited to plant 19 tree species in the area. It is part of the conservation initiatives to restore forestation surrounding Angkor Watt and the remains of the Angkor Dynasty due to deforestation and lumbering between 2015 and 2017. This activity was also in-line with the planting of 10,000 trees previously in the vicinity of AEON’s No. 1 mall in Phnom Penh.
Under the “AEON Hometown Forests Program”, the company seeks to surround its malls with greenery so that the local community can help spread the ideology to the world while caring for these trees. As of 2013, the AEON Environmental Foundation (founded in 1990) has planted over 10 million trees through these activities, as well as in countries such as China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia to protect and nurture water resources and greenery.
