Taking the First Step in International Friendship through Understanding of Different Cultures
In the Japan-Indonesia Teenage Ambassador Program, high school students from both countries served as "ambassadors" to deepen mutual friendship.
AEON 1% Club Foundation has been hosting the Teenage Ambassador Program since 1990, which aims to provide senior high school students in Japan and abroad with opportunities to study each other's history and cultures, gain understanding on diverse values, and form lasting friendships. For this year's program between Japan and Indonesia, a total of 32 students - 16 students from each country - participated in the mutual exchange in which Japanese students visiting Indonesia in January and Indonesian students coming to Japan in March.
The teenagers enhanced their friendship through activities such as courtesy visits to embassies, attending school classes, homestays, and experiencing traditional cultures. The program has been certified as Commemorative Event of the 60th Anniversary of Japan - Indonesia Diplomatic Relations.
