Aya Town Aeon Forest Program Launch in Japan
A Forest Where Man and Nature Can Coexist Harmoniously
AEON
launched Aya Town AEON Forest Programme at Aya Biosphere Reserve, Miyazaki
Prefecture. In August 2017, AEON Environmental Foundation finalised a
partnership agreement with JBRN (Japan Biosphere Reserves Network) to promote
the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable utilisation of resources.
Taking this opportunity, AEON launched the Aya Town AEON Forest Programme at
Aya Biosphere Reserve, Miyazaki Prefecture in November of the same year.
For the first year, 200 volunteers planted 1,200 saplings of tree species native to the area. During the period from 2013 to 2015, Aya Town and the Foundation together with 1,750 volunteers have planted a total of 15,000 trees. This new programme seeks to conserve the existing biodiversity while creating a forest that can be used for educational environmental activities.
