60th Anniversary of Japan-Indonesia Diplomatic Relations
Mangrove Tree Planting Activity in Jakarta(22nd September 2018)
AEON Environmental Foundation (https://www.aeon.info/ef/en/) and Jakarta's government conducted a Tree Planting activity which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 22nd September, 2018. This was the first activity in the twice of "Mangrove Plantation in Jakarta, Indonesia" project and will be held over 3 years (2018-2020) planting around 30,000 mangroves in marshland areas of Pantai Indah Kepuk, North Jakarta.
This Tree Planting was a part of the event marking "the 60th Anniversary of Japan-Indonesia Diplomatic Relations". His Excellency, Masafumi Ishii, Ambassador of Japan to Indonesia, said "for over 60 years, Japan and Indonesia have had a relationship that could be described as "working forward together, as a best friends." He also hoped that the good relationship will continue.
1,000 volunteers from both Indonesia and Japan joined to the activity.
This Tree Planting involved 1,000 volunteers from both Indonesia and Japan to cultivate 10,000 Mangrove Trees which are expected to be able to restore the forest and would be a disaster prevention to area that experiences drought problems, protecting the toll road and surrounding areas from flooding.
Through this new project, AEON Environmental Foundation and Jakarta's Government hopes to provide a positive impact with environmental activities for the next generation so they can live their lives with the full beauty of nature.
